5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 16

Patriot's Day, final movie of French Twist and taxes tomorrow.

1. It's Patriot's Day and there are lots of great events today: review our weekend events around the area for things to do or head over to Newton and watch the runners. Or relax at home.

2. It's a wrap! The Belmont World Film "French Twist" Film Festival concludes with tonight's feature, "Unforgivable" ("Impardonnables"), starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Studio Cinema at 376 Trapelo Rd. Come early for the best seats as this festival has been quite successful and well attended.

Set in Venice, the film stars former Chanel model Carole Bouquet ("For Your Eyes Only"), Andre Dussolier ("Micmacs," "Amelie"), and gorgeous Melanie Thierry ("The Princess of Montpensier").

"Putting several interwoven story lines into play the moment a successful novelist comes to Venice for the peace and quiet to write his next book — fat chance on peace and quiet! — (director Andre) Techine builds suspense into each of these stories. A year then passes that bears witness to love, betrayals, violence, jealousies, suspicions, heartbreak and self-destruction," said the Hollywood Reporter.

Following the film will be a fascinating discussion with Dr. Rodrigo Baharona, a psychoanalyst who specializes in addictions. After the discussion, join the festival staff at Savinos Grill, 449 Common St., for our Wrap Party. The good folks at the Mediterranean restaurant have graciously offered to provide us with light snacks; you pick up your own drink tab.

3. Forgot to file your taxes? Don't sweat it! The holiday allows Massachusetts residents to file by tomorrow at midnight. Thanks Paul Revere.

4. I know it's tempting but don't wake up the kids and send them to school. It's April school break.

5. Just to make you feel old: Peter Billingsley, the child star of the movie, "A Christmas Story," turns 40 today.
