1. It's market day in Belmont and the Farmers' Market welcomes a new vendor this week, Winchester's Soluna Garden Farmwith sustainably grown herb and spice blends, herbal organic teas, and flowers. In addition, occasional vendors Turkey Brook Farm (Red Label poultry), Westport Winery, Sfolia Pizzelles, Japonaise Bakery and The Well Fed Dog return to the Market this week.
This week, the Belmont Municipal Light Department will be giving away free compact fluorescent light bulbs and taking your used CFL bulbs for recycling.
From 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the municipal parking lot on Claflin Street in Belmont Center.
2. Come to 'Chalk the Block' where the Children's Room of the Belmont Public Library, 336 Concord Ave., provides the chalk and the sidewalk. You just come armed with sunblock and creativity!
3. Join fellow residents for a training session at noon on the Morningstar Investment Research Center, an online resource you can use for free through the Belmont Public Library web site. This is where to begin searching for the best stock or fund for your portfolio; where to find stock and fund analysis; and other tips for using the Morningstar Research Investment Center. Participants are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. Noon to 1 p.m. at the Belmont Public Library. For more information, call the reference desk at 617-993-2870.
