5 Things You Need to Know Today: October 1

Brownsberger office hours, Selectmen to hear your concerns and it's the first day of Sukkot.

 

1. State Sen. Will Brownsberger's Chief of Staff Barbara Miranda will be holding office hours between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Belmont Public Library's Claflin Room. Stop by to discuss any issues or concerns or just to chat. If you would like to speak with Brownsberger directly, you can always call him at 617-771-8274.

2. Got a question about the town and how its run? Well, here's a chance to have your concerns heard; the Board of Selectmen is holding office hours before its scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. Andy Rojas will be there to take resident concerns.

3. Online payment for students who will be participating in Belmont High School winter sports – from ice hockey to basketball and track and Boys' Swimming – begins today; go to the school's online payment website. 

4. The Beech Street Center has a new boccie court – and it is fully equipped – balls, score board, tape measure, rakes even directions. It is available during the Center’s hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday until 7 p.m.) and the general public is welcome to use it as with other programs at the Center, too.

5. Today is the first day of Sukkot, the most festive of Jewish holidays.
