5 Things You Need to Know Today: September 7
Town offices close on time, Benton events and field hockey is back on Harris Field.
1. Town offices return to their 4 p.m. regular Friday closing time today. So take your time paying that parking ticket.
2. If you like the Benton Library – Belmont's independent and volunteer-run library – being opened on Tuesday mornings, try coming by on Fridays: the Benton on the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex will now be open every Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
3. Got nothing planned on Friday evening? The Benton Library will be open tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for those who can’t come during weekday hours! The Benton’s collection of over 6,500 books includes the latest New York Times fiction best sellers and board games for the entire family to play. The Benton is open one Friday evening every month.
4. Head over to Harris Field to see the very young Belmont High School Field Hockey team play their first game of the year. The girls' first opponent? Just the best team in the state last year, Watertown High. But remember that Belmont took the Raiders' to the edge in their two games, including outplaying the neighbors in the North Finals. The rivalry continues at 3:30 p.m.
