The Belmont Dolphins swim team, a Recreation Department program, just concluded another outstanding season with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses.

The team comprises 157 swimmers ranging in age from 6 to 18.

The season began last October and finished this past weekend at Boston University, where 64 members of the team qualified for the A championships and placed sixth in the division overall.

Last weekend, 83 swimmers attended the B championships in Milford and placed second overall, securing what Head Coach Megan Olowinski referred to as “a huge plaque and quite an accomplishment as the Belmont Dolphins are one of the smaller teams in the division.”

In the B championships, three Dolphin age groups placed first: boys 8 and under, girls 9 and 10, and boys 13 and 14.

The following swimmers set records this season: Calvin Yang set new records in the butterfly, the breaststroke, and the IM (individual medley) for the 11/12 boys.  And Senior Captain Ben Johnson set a new record in the breaststroke and IM.

The team participates in the Winter Suburban Swim League, a regional league that operates with the assistance of parent volunteers and part-time coaches
