That continuous level of service and a commitment to scouting resulted in the Belmont High School student earning the highest honor in scouting, Eagle Scout, from the Boy Scouts of America, Boston Minuteman Council last week at a recognititon dinner held in Wakefield.

A member of the historic Boy Scout Troop 304 (formed in 1920 and one of the oldest continuously active scout troops in New England), Lockett, who was the varsity goalkeeper for the playoff-qualifying Belmont High Boys' Soccer team and an outstanding musician, was among 115 scouts who earned the Eagle Scout rank this year.

Belmont Girl Scouts in a cookie mob

Despite the cold weather, more than 100 members of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts participated in a Flash mob Saturday morning by breaking into a dance outside the Prudential Center. Belmont girl scouts including Kelsey Bennett participated in the Flash mob to promote the Girl Scout cookie sale that will go on until Friday, March 9 as well as the Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary which takes place on March 12.
