Bobby Valentine Fired; Do You Agree With the Call?

The Boston Red Sox fired Valentine after an unsuccessful year at Fenway Park.

The Boston Red Sox on Thursday announced it has fired manager Bobby Valentine after the team experienced the worst season in decades.

In fact, the 69-93 record was the team’s worst since 1965 and the first time the team has finished last in the American League East in more than a decade.

Valentine’s one season at Fenway Park was full of losses and run-ins with players. Valentine, who led the New York Mets to the World Series in 2000, followed Terry Francona, a fan favorite who was dismissed a year ago after taking the team to two World Series titles.

We want to hear from you: Do you agree with the call? Was Valentine to blame for this year's horrible record? Who or what kind of manager would you like to see at Fenway Park?

I have always liked Bobby Valentine (as the Mets coach, and on ESPN), but he was not cut out for the job in Boston. I dont think he should take all of the blame, but it is the job of the skipper to manage the team. I think things got out of hand, there was a lack of leadership and respect, and things just fell apart. This team needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Agreed, add to that he most likely had no support from the front office crowd, He was doomed from the start, How are you Athena? :)

Wow, you guys are far too kind to Valentine. He was abysmal. I believe he is solely responsible for the team's horrible performance this season. He clearly did not have the respect of the players. They didn't want to play or win for him. I saw this firing coming from the day he was hired. I hope he returns to TV punditry where I think he does quite a good job.
