Belmont's Enrichment Program Heads to Camp

Students from the town's four elementary schools and middle school participated.

Nearly 100 Belmont public school students joined the Belmont After School Enrichment Collaborative in its week long, full-day camp last week. Students from kindergarten through 8th grade from all four elementary schools and the Chenery Middle School participated!

At BASEC vacation camp, students have the opportunity to engage with their peers in project and experiential learning in a curriculum that included basketball, cooking, cartooning, theater, science, art and games.

Students in the 4th - 6th grades were a part of the Outing Club and learned to navigate Boston by bus, train and commuter rail, visiting places such as Fort Independence, Salem Willows, Somerville Theater and other local trips.

First and second graders had fun with science making a mess with exploding volcanos and gooey oobleck, while the Art Group made abstract art with paint-filled squirt guns. Not to mention the all-day basketball clinics filled with scrimmages, skill drills and even a dunk contest.
