Recognizing and Avoiding Fraud
Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m.
Come learn about the different types of fraud, which population is the most targeted and how to protect yourself. Belmont Police Sgt. Kristin Daley and Lt. Rick Santangelo will give a presentation on fraud and the ways to avoid it also what to do if you have been the victim of fraud. Also presenting will be Kevin Kiley the executive vice president and COO of the Massachusetts Bankers Association along with other representatives from local banks. Light refreshments will be served. Powers Music School Winter Faculty Concert
Friday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m.
This exciting performance will feature Powers instructor Susanna Fiore on piano, joined by Jay Girill on acoustic bass, playing jazz standards and music composed by great jazz pianists like Bud Powell, Thelonius Monk, Fats Waller, and Bill Evans. In addition, Powers faculty members Lisle Kulbach and Jay Rosenberg will perform with their fellow Voices of the Turtle ensemble member Ian Pomerantz. They will play a variety of instruments, including violin, harp, psaltery, dumbek, rebec and bouzouki. The trio will be presenting some of the Mediterranean-wide musical traditions of the Sephardic Jews. From lullabies to laments and wedding songs to ballads, this vibrant and intimate music of the cultural descendents of the Iberian Jewish community will be sure to warm your hearts this winter!

An exciting group exhibit of Belmont artists is on view at the Beech Street Center. See the works of talented jewelry artist, Arlette Doherty, photographer Nancy Repucci, and printmaker Irene Fairley displayed in the Lounge/Library and in the Game Room. This exhibit will run to April. Come often because new items will appear periodically throughout this extended exhibit time. Enjoy this varied exhibit created by three of our best hometown artists.
