Entwistle Leaving As Belmont School Superintendent

Current school chief heading back to Maine as head of Scarborough schools.

Dr. George Entwistle III, Belmont's superintendent of schools, will be accepting the post of head of Scarborough, Maine's school district tonight, March 17, according to accounts in today's Scarborough (Maine) Forecaster online edition.

Forecaster Reporter Emily Parkhurst writes that Entwistle will start work on July 1.

While the school committee in Scarborough has been conducting a search for a new superintendent for several months, "(Entwistle) was a surprise choice as his name has not come up in the selection process," said Parkhurst in an interview with Belmont Patch.

Parkhurst said that Entwistle cited "personal" reasons for taking the job. Entwistle's wife continues to live in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, which is located next door to Scarborough.

Belmont Patch will be updating the news of Entwistle's departure from Belmont during the day and tomorrow.
