Girls' Lax Outlast Lex, 10-7

Marauders' moves record to 5-1-1 with victory over Minutemen.

After a slow start, the Belmont High School Girls' Lacrosse doubled their advantage over Lexington High School early in the second half and eased to a 10-7 win at Belmont on Thursday, April 26.

The victory ups Belmont's record to 5-1-1, coming off last week's scappy 10-9 win at Woburn.

Senior Britta Marten and junior Katie Leinbach each scored three goals with Maddie Devine popping in a deuce for the Marauders.

Lexington's Kate Powers and Cat Costello led the Minuteman scorers with three and two goals.

Senior center Caroline McCarthy, who made three assists and scored, dominated the draws after scores to give Belmont a majority of possessions.

On the defensive end, right defense Fiona Frick scooped up three ground balls and prevented Lexington's Allie McNabb for most of the game from manuevering in front of goalie Linda Murphy who stoned McNabb on a breakaway with a little more than a minute left in the game.

Next up for the Marauders' is a home match with Wilmington on Tuesday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m. at Harris Field.
