Gunmen Rob Trapelo Road Variety Store Sunday [VIDEO]
Suspects: In late teens, between 5'10" and 6', one brandishing a semi-automatic.
A gunman and his accomplice robbed a Central Square variety store at the corner of Trapelo Road and Walnut Street Sunday, Feb. 12, shortly before 9 p.m., according to Belmont Police.
Two men entered LC's Variety at 326 Trapelo Rd. when one pointed a black, semi-automatic handgun at the clerk, ordering him to open the cash register. Once open, the employee turned over a undetermined amount of money to the pair, said BPD Lt. Richard Santangelo.
Both men were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and had scarves over their faces.
Other than pushing the clerk behind the counter, the employee was unhurt. The two then fled on foot on Hull Street.
Belmont Police, along with a Waltham Police K9 unit, searched the area but could not locate either one of the suspects.
The store is on one of Belmont's main roadways with a Dunkin' Donuts franchise down the street, a gas station on the next block and the Studio Cinema two blocks away.
The first suspect is a heavy set man in his late teens, 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a possible shaved head. He was wearing jeans, a white shirt, tan work boots and a GAP sweatshirt.
The second suspect is a lean, tall man also in his late teens, 6 feet tall. He was wearing gray jeans or sweats, possibly a pair of white Nike Air Jordan sneakers and was brandishing the semi-automatic.
The suspects' race is unclear at this time, according to police.
