Healthcare Union Throws Support to Rogers

Statewide SEIU backing Cambridge attorney's run for state representative.

Members of 1199 SEIU, the state’s largest healthcare workers union, announced their endorsement of Dave Rogers in his campaign for state representative in the 24th Middlesex district composed of Belmont and precincts in Arlington and Cambridge.
 
“Dave Rogers has a proven record of standing with working people. 1199SEIU members are impressed by his commitment to creating jobs, supporting our schools and protecting healthcare services for the public,” said 1199SEIU Executive Vice President Veronica Turner in a press release issued Wednesday, Aug. 22.
 
The release stated that "1199SEIU members are proud to stand with Rogers" who they feel is highly qualified to deal with the issues facing the district such as economic development, job creation and rising healthcare costs.
 
“Dave Rogers not only understands the need for a strong middle-class, but also understands the challenges working families face,” said Turner.
 
“Dave Rogers is the real deal. I’m confident that as a state representative he will institute the changes we need to support our economy and working families,” said Joanne Formica, an 1199SEIU member at Boston Medical Center and a resident of Arlington.
 
According to the release, you will be seeing and hearing from 1199SEIU members as they volunteer to support Rogers and several candidates in state elections as they make phone calls, hand out literature and door knock during the campaign season.
