Jimmy Tingle To Explain Election in One Book One Belmont Event

Comedy, candidates and Belmont World Festival at the Studio Cinema next week.

You saw him and heard his commentary on "60 Minutes II" and now Belmont World Film presents Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream-Live and On Stage featuring a screening of the documentary "Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream" followed by a Q & A and a live performance of "Jimmy Tingle for President: The Funniest Campaign in History."

The festivities will happen on Monday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Studio Cinema, 376 Trapelo Rd.

The event is being held in conjunction with “One Book One Belmont,” a town-wide program sponsored by the Belmont Public Library that invites residents to simultaneously read the same book.

This year’s choice is "The Leftovers," by Belmont resident and author Tom Perotta, who will speak about his book the following Monday, Oct. 22.

The film features comedy, commentary and conversation with some of America’s most iconic personalities and social critics, as well as family, friends and total strangers as they speak up and speak out about the American Dream. Tingle, a nationally known comedian, filmmaker and former commentator for 60 Minutes II, weaves his stand-up comedy career into the fabric of the American Dream,

It also features music by Willie Nelson, The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones, The Neighborhoods, and Jimmy Tingle on harmonica.

In Jimmy Tingle for President: The Funniest Campaign in History," Tingle constructs a hilarious and thought provoking one-man show based on his 2012 run for the presidency. As the founder of the "Humor for Humanity" party, Tingle runs on his comedic record, while his campaign underlines his passion for and creative thinking on every issue the next president will face – from alternative energy to immigration to jobs and the national debt.
