• Many Town Meeting representative slots.

See the complete list of Town Meeting seats open in 2012 on the accompanying pdf.

The election will take place Monday, April 2, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Nomination papers are currently available at the Town Clerk’s office and must be returned to the Town Clerk’s office by Feb. 13 at 5 pm. for town wide office.

Cushman encourages all candidates for all elected offices, for both town-wide and Town Meeting, to investigate the responsibilities of the post by reading the Town General By-Laws and Belmont Town Meeting Acts of 1926, and reading the minutes of the elected board.

All candidates for town-wide elected office must file campaign finance forms with the Town Clerk's office.

Candidates for Town Meeting Member

The elected term for Town Meeting Member is three years, though should a resignation occur, there may be a race for office, you must be at least 18 years old and a registered voter of the Town of Belmont.

Candidates for Town-Wide Office

Candidates must secure the signatures of at least 50 registered voters of the Town of Belmont and return the signed nomination papers by 5 p.m., Feb. 13. Cushman recommends that more signatures are collected and submitted in the event that some signatures are invalid.

Before collecting signatures, the candidate must sign the nomination papers and fill in the office for which he/she will be a candidate.

Presidential primary

Also, the deadline to register to vote or change partys for the upcoming March 6, Presidential Primary is Feb. 15, at 8 pm. The Town Clerk’s office will be open until that time.
