Poll: Medical Marijuana in Massachusetts

Voters will be asked to decide in November.

Should Massachusetts allow marijuana to be used and grown for medicinal purposes?

That's one question voters in the Commonwealth will decide on when they cast ballots in November.

The ballot initiative calls for Massachusetts to allow doctors to prescribe marijuana to patients with chronic medical problems. It also calls for treatment centers to be created to cultivate and distribute the drug.

It isn't the first time Massachusetts voters have been asked to weigh in on marijuana law changes. In 2008, voters approved an initiative that reduced possession of small amount of marjuana from a criminal offense to a fine.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, the state's top law enforcement official, said in April that, if passed, the initiative is "going to cause a huge headache making sure it’s not abused." Still, her office was neutral on the initiative, she said.

Why must we get approval or permission from Police Officials? They have a vested interest in keeping Marijuana Prohibition in place as they make money and get power from it.
Just legalize and regulate marijuana as we do alcohol and free those officers up to pursue crimes that actually have victims!

Your "yes" vote, phrased as "Yeah, Dude," is inappropriate given that this is a vote for MEDICAL marijuana. Anyone who's had the benefit of it while undergoing chemotherapy, for example, will not appreciate such wording.

I agree. For those that need the substance as medication, it's offensive to phrase the positive response with a steroetypically worded negative phrase.

Don't people have enough to get messed up on legally? Adult pot smokers are embarassing too.

See, there in lies the issue.

Alcohol induces rage. Marijuana does not

Alcohol causes death and health issues. Marijuana does not.

Alcohol is legal. Marijuana is not.

WHY?

"Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, the state's top law enforcement official, said in April that, if passed, the initiative is 'going to cause a huge headache making sure it’s not abused.'"

You're the Attorney General! If you're not up to the job of enforcing laws that pass, then let the people of Massachusetts know and step aside! Regardless, I have full faith that you will uphold the laws of the state.

How many people have beat their wives after smoking a joint? How many people have crashed their cars after smoking pot? How many people go to jail for aggressive behavior after smoking weed? The war on weed a comical.

It's so "comical" it makes me want to cry.

You're points are well made.

As a police officer what he would rather respond to.

A stoned domestic abuse call or a drunk domestic abuse call?

Oh, I forget, the don't get stoned domestic abuse call's.
