Romney Vineyard Event Raises a Million in Donations
Fundraiser at Oak Bluffs home of Jim and Kate Sims for a clambake and blueberry cobbler.
Mitt Romney was on Martha's Vineyard today to attend a clambake fundraiser at the Oak Bluffs home of Jim and Kate Sims. Sims is the chairman and founder of Gen3 Partners.
"The event raised over $1million," said Jim Powell, volunteer fundraiser for the Romney campaign and chairman of the West Tisbury Republican Town Committee.
Romney is expected to raise nearly $7 million attending events this weekend on the Cape and Islands and Long Island and in Boston.
The guests each donated between $2,500 to $50,000, and were served a luncheon of lobster, roast beef, salmon, salads, blueberry cobbler and raw bar that was catered by Islander Annie Foley, said Powell, who estimated nearly 300 people attended the event.
No media was present and photos were not allowed.
Guests were shuttled from the Farm Neck Golf Clubhouse to the Sims' house.
"Governor Romney was energized, personable and candid about the Presidential race," said Powell.
Romney addressed questions about the economy; Medicare; his runing mate Paul Ryan; the Republican Convention and entreprenuership, said Powell.
After the clambake, Romney flew to Cape Cod to attend a mid-afternoon reception and will travel to Nantucket for a fundraising dinner.

The rich folks, who will save millions in tax dollars on the backs of increased taxes to the middle class if Romney is elected, are buying up "Shares of Romney" but can't come anywhere near his biggest investor/owner. I believe Romney has a "Property of the Koch Bros" tattoo on his rump!
Guess that means the billions in oil subsidies out of our tax dollars annually won't stop anytime soon if Romney is elected. It's a dirty little game, which is why they have to spend so much on politicians like Romney to play it. A closer look and we'd all run screaming.
