Ryan and Rice Prep Convention for Romney

Elizabeth Mahoney, Belmont's RNC delegate, gives her impression of Paul Ryan and the delegations anticipation of Mitt Romney's speech.

What a great night of speeches we had last night.  Speakers included Sen. John McCain, Mike Huckabee, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and of course, Paul Ryan, our nominee for vice president. Ayla Brown, daughter of current Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, sang the national anthem.

I think expectations were pretty high for Ryan's speech, but in my opinion he exceeded them. He offered a detailed critique of President Obama's first term, making a case for why we need new leadership. As he said, "without a change in leadership, why would the next four years be any different from the last four years?" This was the first time many of us were hearing from Paul Ryan and we were definitely impressed. More than one person on the floor said, "I can't wait for the vice presidential debates with Joe Biden."

Condoleezza Rice's speech was another highlight of the evening. While Ryan talked about economic issues, she talked about foreign policy issues. She is such an accomplished and eloquent woman; it was a real thrill to see her. I think many at the convention would love to see her name on a ballot someday!

Prior to the convention, the Massachusetts delegation had a reception at our hotel. We heard from Bob White, a longtime friend of Gov. Romney's who worked with him at Bain. He talked about the more personal side of Mitt Romney and encouraged us all to make sure we are sharing those stories with voters.

I'm really looking forward to tonight. We will hear from a number of people who have known Mitt Romney for years and then we will hear from Romney himself. There is a lot of anticipation and excitement especially among the Massachusetts delegation for this big moment!

I just took a look around to see what the press thought of Ryan's speech. This is what I found in less than 2 minutes:

'Outright, Unflinching Dishonesty'
'Hypocritical'
'Bets On Ignorance'
'Breathtakingly Dishonest'
'Most Dishonest Convention Speech Ever?'
'Deep Dishonesty'
'Misleads Again And Again'

Either of you guys care to write about Obama's record in office?

I didn't think so.

Reverend: Read the comments from this Winchester Patch article. Lots of information about the national debt and where it came from and how the interest on the debt is a major contributor to it's growth. Basically, no one is going to be able to wave a magic wand and fix everything in a few years.

"No one is going to be able to wave a magic wand and fix everything in a few years."

Agreed, but continuing to tax and spend will certainly not fix it. We have a clear choice in November.
