Spookier than Halloween? Try Snow in Belmont in October

National Weather Service also calling for a freeze watch with temps in the upper 20s.

It's not even Halloween yet, but Belmont could have its first snowfall of the season tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, Belmont could have as much as one-inch of snow accumulation by this time Friday morning.

The NWS is expecting a 100 percent chance of precipitation Thursday — up to an inch of rain during the day, snow at night.

And with the potential for white stuff comes a "freeze watch" by the NWS for southern Middlesex County, including Belmont.

The freeze watch is in effect from tonight until early Friday morning as  temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 20s or low 30s.

According to the NWS, a freeze watch means that "sub-freezing temperatures are possible [and] these conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation."

So long tomatoes. See you next May.
