Support the Troops While Cheering Belmont Hockey's Season Openers

Watertown's Veterans Services Department is holding a drive for Operation American Soldier on Wednesday Dec. 12 during high school hockey games.

 

You can come out and cheer on Belmont High School's Boys' and Girls' Ice Hockey teams in their seaons openers (against arch rivals Watertown) and also donate items to put into holiday care packages for troops serving overseas. 

The Watertown Veterans' Services Department will team up with Operation American Soldier to collect items for care packages to send to service men and women. The collection will take place at Watertown's John A. Ryan Skating Arena on opening day for Belmont's pucksters. 

The items will be shipped by Operation American Soldier, which is based out of the Charles Shutt Detachment of the Marine Corps League, during the Holiday Care Package Drive for our troops.

The game schedule next Wednesday is:

  • 4 p.m. - Watertown/Melrose High Girls vs. Belmont High School 
  • 6 p.m. - Watertown High Boys vs. Belmont High School 

Items Needed for Packages: Hand warmers, Socks, Wet Wipes, Fleece Hats, Socks (to sleep in), Toiletries (soap, deodorant, etc.), Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, Healthy snacks: (Peanut Butter, Beef Jerky, Ready-to-eat Tuna, Chicken Salads (canned), Heat & eat canned foods: Soups, Beef Stew, Pasta.

On behalf of Operation American Soldier we are so grateful to Belmont & Watertown Hockey teams for supporting our troops. The teams brought much needed supplies to the rink. All these supplies and more will be shipped to our troops serving in harms way. Thank you for your support,
