Parents of Performing Arts Students are holding auction, wine tasting
Belmont High School's Parents of Performing Arts Students (Patrons) is hosting a wine tasting/silent auction/jazz piano evening at Beth El Temple Center beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, called "All that Jazz" to support extracurricular performing arts programs at the High School. Funds go to costumes, lighting, auditorium upgrades and renovations, scholarships, workshops and more. Tickets are $35 at the door.
All Things Lunar on the Screen
The Belmont World Film celebrates its "Full Moon Festival" with an encore screening of "Lotte and the Moonstone Secret" (for ages 3-7) at 10:30 a.m. and "Moon Man" (ages 7 and up) based on the bestselling children's book by Tomi Ungerer, at 1 p.m. The films will be shown at Belmont's Studio Cinema on Trapelo Road.
Saturday Music at the Library
The Belmont Public Library begins its Music on Saturday series of concerts today, Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Assembly Room at 3 p.m. with "A Little Swing and Other Things," performed by The Jim Doran Quartet which is made up by musicians from Belmont's Powers Music School. Come and swing to an entertaining mix of bebop, swing, cool jazz and popular music. The Muisc on Saturday concerts are free thanks to the sponsorship of the Friends of the Belmont Public Library.
The 13th Record Memorial Concert includes World Premiere
The Record Players will be holding its 13th annual concert for the benefit of the Judith K. Record Memorial Conservation Fund today, Saturday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. at The First Church in Belmont, Unitarian Universalist. The program, which includes music by Boccherini, Mozart and Eespere, will feature classical guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan performing a world premiere of a piece composed for him by Maine composer Thomas L. Read. The concert supports the Judith K. Record Memorial Conservation Fund that assists the Town of Belmont in protecting its conservation land. The Fund provides grant money for special projects such as improvement of the trail system and signage.
