Gospel for a cause

Joyful Voices of Inspiration are back for a repeat performance on Saturday, March 23 at 3 p.m. This Boston-based, forty-member, non-denominational, multi-cultural gospel chorus will be appearing in Belmont this year to benefit three-area food pantries: Belmont Food Pantry, Watertown Food Pantry and the St. Patrick's Food Pantry. Join residents for a soul stirring, spirit moving and heart-warming gospel concert. This public event is being held at the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church, 421 Common St. in Cushing Square, 617-489-0730.

Belmont Savings Bank is hosting a free children’s concert Saturday, March 23 at 4 p.m. featuring Karen K & the Jitterbugs at the Chenery Middle School. This free concert, part of the band’s latest CD release, Big Ol’ Truck, is ideal for kids up to age 5 and their parents. Chenery Middle School is located at 95 Washington St. 

Winter Circus at United Methodist

The Watertown Cooperative Preschool is hosting its annual Winter Circus on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church, 421 Common St. The Circus will feature the fabulous kids band, Ethan Rossiter and the Jamberries, followed by a circus-themed fair with food, crafts, face painting, balloon animals, games and other great children's activities. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children. They can be purchased at the door.

Powers at the Watertown Library

Belmont's Powers Music School and Cambridge Savings Bank present a free Musical Storytelling Program Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library, 123 Main St., Watertown, featuring Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s books, "Punk Farm" and "Punk Farm on Tour."

Listen to the story narrated by Powers' Artistic Director Helen Clapp Stevenson, with music performed by Yas Ishibashi, piano & vocals, Tev Stevig, banjo & guitar, Jim Doran, bass guitar, and Todd Brunel, drums, saxophone, and vocals. Rock and read along with the musicians! Call 617-972-6431.
