Watertown RMV Worker Busted For Bribery, Corruption

The RMV worker will appear in court on Nov. 16.

An employee of the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Watertown was arrested on Nov. 16 on charges of bribery and corruption, according to federal immigration authorities.

Adriana Ferreira will appear in Suffolk Superior Court later today on charges of bribery, corruption and larceny, according the federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency.

Ferreira, a naturalized U.S. citizen was arrested by State Police detecetives and ICE agents in Watertown.

Authorities believe she was defrauding illegal immigrants by offerring them a driver's license in exchange for $2,000, according to ICE. However, those asking for such a license never received them. Ferreira also claimed to have a contact at ICE that could delay deportations in exchange for a fee, according to ICE. Authorities began investigating Ferreira in March of 2011.

Stay tuned for more updates to this story.

NICE! No wonder it took me 3 hours to pay sales tax, and get a new title!

Does anyone recall the 50's where a license could be had for a price? Nothing has really changed since then.

Yes, there is surly more to this story. Such a shame that people are taking advantage of the already disadvantaged. Tip of the iceberg indeed.

By disadvantaged, i'm assuming you mean illegal immigrant who not only broke our immigration laws, but on top of that, tried to obtain a driver's license (you know, to drive on the same roads as your wife, kids, grandparents) illegally? Or is it the RMV worker who has to pay her taxes to cover criminals like the ones she tried to get her money back from? I guess it's all a matter of how you view things.

One little scam by the Massachusetts Government was this. The registry had a $50 million surplus last year. And instead of lowering the Registry fees, like they should by law, they used the surplus to bail out other State departments. TOTALLY ILLEGAL.

Saul, don't mind Bridget- When democrats hear the words "corruption" and "massachusetts" used in the same sentence, they're told to block their ears.
