Cast a Vote for your Favorite Authors

Kids can’t vote in the upcoming presidential election, but in the Jane Gray Dustan Children’s Room, their voices can still be heard when it comes to their favorite authors. From now until November 6th, 2012 (Election Day), children and their parents can cast a vote for their favorite picture book author and/or their favorite chapter book author. The Children’s Room staff will tally the results and post them on the Children’s Room bulletin board.

Staff members worked diligently to make sure that they singled out some of our young patron’s favorite authors. Candidates for favorite picture book author include Victoria Kann ("Pinkalicious"), Kate McMullan ("I Stink"), and Mo Willems ("Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus"). The favorite chapter book authors include Rick Riordan ("The Lightning Thief"), Jeff Kinney ("Diary of a Wimpy Kid"), and Wendy Mass ("Candymakers"). There is also a slot on the ballot for voters to write-in their favorite authors.

The staff hopes that this activity will not only provide a fun way to see who the library’s favorite authors are, but to show young patrons the importance of voting.

Do you want to voice your choice for favorite author? Come to the Jane Gray Dustan Children’s Room and ask for a ballot. Look for the results of our election after November 6th!
