02478:Memory Art Exhibit Opening Reception
(Belmont, MA) - The Belmont Gallery of Art presents its third biannual all-Belmont juried show, “02478: Memory” featuring the work of 41 local artists, Oct. 29 through Dec. 7. An Opening Reception for the exhibit with the artists in attendance will take place, Friday, Nov. 2, 6-8pm. All events are free and open to the public.
The artists participating in the show interpreted its theme of “memory” in ways unique to each of them; the pieces in the show depict influences from the personal to the political. A variety of techniques and media were used in creating the works, including painting, printmaking, sculpture and photography. The result is an interesting mix of how individuals collectively respond to something we all share. “The memory show provides gallery visitors an intimate look at the collective memories of the community,” says gallery administrator, Juliana Rozeboom. “We hope town residents and others will share in this experience.”
Since opening its doors in July 2005, the Belmont Gallery of Art has presented over fifty shows featuring the work of dozens of local and regional artists. It has offered a professional architecturally significant place for artists to display their work and visitors to view such work. The BGA has been praised throughout the community for its support and promotion of the arts and culture in Belmont.
The Belmont Gallery of Art is located in the Town Hall Complex, 3rd floor of the Homer Bldg., 19 Moore St., Belmont Center. Hours for “02478:Memory” are Thurs., and Fri. 10-4 and Sun. 1-4. Please visit the Belmont Gallery of Art’s website at www.belmontgallery.org for more information. Wheelchair accessible.
