DESCRIPTION:Shoreline Lake's Aquatic Center is now home to Ho&rsquo\;oku&
 rsquo\;i (Hawaiian for "to join together&rdquo\;)\, the Bay Area's newes
 t outrigger canoe club.Given the excitement both adults and kids generat
 e for this ancient and thrilling sport &ndash\; especially kids (keikis)
  &ndash\; Shoreline and Ho&rsquo\;oku&rsquo\;i are inviting everyone to 
 free\, monthly Community Days\, from 10am-2pm\, through the warm season 
 (April - October) that will include seminars\, hands-on outrigger action
 \, and lots of fun on the Lake.As the only place in the lower Peninsula/
 upper South Bay area to check out the action\, it&rsquo\;s a unique oppo
 rtunity to see\, and be part of\, a six-person outrigger crew driving a 
 400 pound\, 45-foot long\, 20-24 inch wide sleek canoe\, by paddling at 
 64-68 strokes per minute as one powerful and gracefully precise unit.To 
 encourage membership\, practice times are 5:30pm-7:30pm (Monday-Thursday
 ) through the end of July.Come by\, try something a little different\, a
 nd have a great time!
