Basketball Tips Off Tonight, Financial Task Force's Inaugural Meeting, Sing-Along at Paprika Kid

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, Dec. 13.

• The Belmont High School Boys' and Girls' basketball teams start their regular seasons against neighboring rivals Watertown High tonight at 7 p.m.; the Boys' are playing at home in Wenner Field House and the Girls' are away just down Common Street at Watertown High School. 

• The first meeting of the newly-created Financial Task Force will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of Selectmen's Room of Town Hall. An introduction will be made on the goals and impact of the task force on the future fiscal direction of the town. 

• Paprika Kid at 404 Trapelo Rd. is hosting a Holiday Sing-Along with Lenka on Friday, Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m. The Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ recently awarded Lenka Music Together Certification Level status for outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education. Recommended for kids up to five years old.

• The Senior Book Discussion Group  will discuss "The House of the Seven Gables" by Nathaniel Hawthorne at 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St. 

Morning yoga, taught by professional instructors, is being held this morning from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 582 Pleasant St, in Gardiner Hall, at the back of the church. $10. All levels welcome just bring your own mat if you can. $6 per child for child care. All proceeds benefit Plymouth Nursery School.
