Boys' Soccer in Playoff Action, Community Path Meeting, Hot Chocolate for Middleschoolers

Events occurring in Belmont on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

1. It's Belmont's David vs North Andover's Goliath as the Belmont High School Boys' Soccer team meets the number-one ranked and undefeated/untied North Andover Knights at North Andover High School in a quarterfinals match in the Division 2 North tournament at 6 p.m.

2. The Community Path Advisory Committee – the folks that will propose a new bike/recreational path through Belmont – will be meeting at 7 p.m. in the Belmont Gallery of Art on the third floor of the Homer Building in the Town Hall complex. On the agenda is the evaluation of possible routes and surveying abutters. 

3. Calling all Chenery Middle School students! Stop by the Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., bring your homework and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate during this early release day. This is for middleschoolers only so you High School kids head over to Starbucks.

4. The Benton Library Book Group will discuss “The Movement of Stars” by Amy Brill beginning at 4 p.m. Newcomers are welcome even if they have not read the book. The volunteer-run independent library is located at Old Middlesex and Oakley.

5. Recent research suggests that the Mediterranean way of eating is better for heart health than a low-fat diet. Join Meghan Ostrander, Springwell’s Registered Dietitian, during lunch at noon at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St., to learn ways to incorporate this diet into your lifestyle. There is no need to register for the talk.
