ESL Parents, Kids Invited to Library, Drama at the Beech, Harriers 'Round Clay Pit

Events occurring in Belmont on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

1. Parents and children whose use English as their second language and families that are new to Belmont's Elementary Schools are invited to the Belmont Public Library to come to learn how to use the library from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Room. Your children will begin the night with you, and then while parents have an online guided tour of the library, the Children's Librarian will read stories for your children in the Children's Room. Tell your ESL friends and neighbors, too!

2. Introduction to Drama for Adults is an eight-week class that is free of charge and begins on Tuesday, Oct. 8, between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Beech Street Center. Taught by a retired drama teacher, Cheryl Ann Welch, the class will cover the vocabulary of the theater as well as improvisation. You will learn how to analyze short scenes and to act and direct them. If there is enough interest we can put together a short program to be performed at the Center and increase the number of classes.

3. The Belmont Public Library's Children's Room is holding Storytime for 2’s and 3’s.  Due to overwhelming popularity, this storytime is offered both at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Bring your little ones for stories, songs, and more. Both programs will take place in the Flett Room, across from the Children's Room.

4. In sports, Boys' and Girls' Cross Country will be on the Clay Pit Pond course at 4 p.m. while the Field Hockey gals are looking to make the playoffs (already) with a win or a tie vs. Burlington. They cross sticks at 6 p.m.

5. Happy birthday, mom. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!
