Holiday Town Sing at the Library, Superintendent Vote, Story Time at the Benton

Events occurring in Belmont on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

• The Belmont Public Library is hosting it very first ever Holiday Town Sing with Powers Music School at 6:30 p.m. Vanessa Schukis (mezzo-soprano), Mark McNeill (piano) and Spencer Aston (trumpet)-from Powers Music School will lead the group for an hour of singing together, then at 8 p.m., we will perform our newly-learned songs for the audience. Sign-up online or call 617 993-2870 to register. Come, lift your voices in song and celebrate the season. 

• Seasonal stories and crafts will be highlighted at the Pre-School Story Time at the Benton Library, Belmont's independent and volunteer run library, at 10:30 a.m. The event is for children age 3 to 5. Parents or caregivers must attend. Siblings may attend with adults. Registration is not required. The Benton Library is located at the intersection of Oakley and Old Middlesex.

 The Singing Grandpops will be performing at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St., at around 1:15 p.m. after the holiday "dinner." 

• The Belmont School Committee will vote on the next Belmont District School Superintendent at 7:30 p.m. at the Chenery Middle School. 

• Belmont High School Girls' Basketball team will have its home opener at Wenner Field House at 5:30 p.m. vs. Melrose. (The boys' are in Melrose at 6:30 p.m.)
