Powers' Brass at the Beech, Brownsberger's Open Office, Girls' Hoops at Home

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, Jan. 17.

Powers Music School's "Solitary Brass" – featuring faculty members Spencer Aston and Andrew Sorg, trumpet; Jim Mosher, French horn; and Wesley Hopper, trombone – will be giving a free concert beginning at 1:15 p.m. at the Beech Street Center. The concert is part of the Leader Bank Neighborhood Concert Series. 

• Pre-school Story Time takes place at the Benton Library (at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex) beginning at 10:30 a.m. There will also be seasonal stories and crafts for children 3 to 5. Siblings may attend with adults. Parents or caregivers must be present. Registration is not required. 

State Sen. • Well-loved local musician Liz Buchanan will be performing original songs and traditional favorites for youngsters and their parents at the Belmont Public Library's Flett Room beginning at 10:30 a.m. 

Belmont High School Girls' Basketball is hosting its counterparts from Winchester High at the Wenner. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m.
