School's Open, Solar Panel Decision for the Wellington, Girls' Hockey at Home

Events occurring in Belmont today.

• After two extra days of Winter Recess, it's back to school for all students in the Belmont Public Schools. So commuters should be careful on the roads today as children will be back walking on the public ways around town.

• Music & Movement with Rubi, a movement and music program, is recommended for three to five years old but two year olds are welcome. There will be two sessions in the Belmont Public Library's Assembly Room, at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

• The supporters of placing solar panels on Wellington Elementary's roof are hoping that the fourth time is a charm as the Planning Board will hear Broadway Electric's proposal at 7:45 p.m. in the Selectmen's Room of Town Hall.

• The best team in these parts, the undefeated "Maraiders" – the combined girls' ice hockey team made up of skaters from Belmont and Watertown high schools – will meet powerhouse Winthrop at home (the Ryan Arena in Watertown) at 5 p.m.

•  On this day in 1994, Stoneham's Nancy Kerrigan is clubbed on the knee at the US Figure Skating Championships in Detroit. Why!
