Senior Book Group Discusses 'Mansfield Park', Special Storytime at the Benton
Events happening in Belmont on Friday, Jan. 10.
• The Belmont Board of Selectmen is meeting today at 8 a.m. at Town Hall and on the docket will be an update on the proposed 300-unit Belmont Uplands development.
• The Senior Book Discussion Group will meet at 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center (the Belmont senior center) to discuss "Mansfield Park" by Jane Austen.
• A Special Pre-School Storytime at the Benton Library, Belmont's independent and volunteer run library, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Denise Patnod will read stories and crafts for children age 3 to 5. Parents or caregivers must attend. Siblings may attend with adults. Registration is not required. The Benton Library is located at the intersection of Oakley and Old Middlesex.
• Piano Lessons starts today at the Beech Street Center. The classes is run by Nina Grimaldi, is an expert at getting seniors to play piano and play it well. Nina – who graduated cum laude in Piano Performance from Amherst College (1983), and also holds a certificate from Longy School of Music in Dalcroze Eurythmics (1998) – has more than 30 years of teaching experience. The classes run from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $160 for 8 weeks; minimum of 4 students needed to hold class. If six students sign up, the cost will be $106.
