Thursday Trash Pickup Today, Meeting By the Pool, Benton Story Time, Piano Lessons at the Beech

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, Dec. 27.

• Those households and residences that have Thursday curbside trash pick will have their garbage taken today, Friday, due to the Christmas holiday.

• The Underwood Pool Building Committee will be meeting at the pool site at 8 a.m. to determine the feasibility of designs. Bundle up.

Pre-school Story Time with Denise Patnod takes place at the Benton Library (at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex) beginning at 10:30 a.m. with seasonal stories and crafts for children 3 to 5. Siblings may attend with adults. Parents or caregivers must be present. Registration is not required.

• Here's a Heads Up: Friday piano lessons are returning to the Beech Street Center in two weeks beginning Jan. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. Nina Grimaldi, is an expert at getting seniors to play piano and play it well. Cost is $160 for eight weeks with a minimum of four students, the number we need for the class to happen. If six students sign up, the cost will be $106. If you need a scholarship, please see the Center's director, Nava Niv-Vogel.

• On this day in 1901, Marlene Dietrich, the magnetic movie star and singer who was considered an international symbol of glamour, was born.
