Try Bob's Bisque! Shopping Late in Cushing Square, Pool Party at the Chenery

• Are you looking for a great starter dish for Thanksgiving? You're in luck. Belmont Savings Bank’s President and CEO Bob Mahoney will prepare a family favorite, Harvest Bisque, as he hosts “Cooking with the CEO” at the Cambridge Star Market just a stone's throw from Belmont at 699 Mt. Auburn St. at 4 p.m. “In light of the season, I will share one of my favorite recipes. I hope shoppers will agree that Harvest Bisque is an excellent addition to the holiday menu.” said Mahoney who will offer both samples and the recipe to those in attendance.

• Get a jump on holiday shopping at the third annual Shopping Night Fundraiser to Support Wellington PTO tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy a night of shopping and dining with friends to support local Cushing Square merchants and the Wellington PTO. Ten percent of sales will benefit the Wellington PTO which supports afterschool enrichment programs, field trips and many other educational activities.

• The first of two public meetings with the Underwood Pool Building Committee and its consultant, Bargmann, Hendrie + Archetype, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Chenery Middle School Auditorium at 95 Washington St. to provide an overview of a proposed new Underwood Pool and Bathhouse and receive public comment in order to develop a schematic design and construction cost estimate.

• The Belmont Council on Aging invites everyone to a free video presentation of TED Talks with Apollo Robbins talking about "The Art of Misdirection" at 1 p.m. in Classroom A of the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St. Hailed as the greatest pickpocket in the world, Apollo Robbins studies the quirks of human behavior as he steals your watch. In a hilarious demonstration, Robbins samples the buffet of the audience, showing how the flaws in our perception make it possible to swipe a wallet and leave it on its owner’s shoulder while they remain clueless.

• The book club for 5th and 6th grade student in the Chenery Middle School's Lower School will be held in the Flett Room of the Belmont Public Library beginning at 3:15 p.m.
