Veterans' Day at the Butler, 'King Stag' and 'Mikado' Tonight and More Road Work

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, Nov. 8.

1. All are invited to attend the annual Veterans’ Day program at the Daniel Butler Elementary School, 90 White St., at 9:45 a.m. in the school cafeteria.

2. The Belmont High School Performing Arts Company under the leadership of director Ezra Flam present Carlo Gozzi's Commedia Dell’Arte masterpiece "The King Stag" tonight at 7 p.m. in the Belmont High School auditorium. 3. Work crews are lining the sewers on Brookside Avenue and Mayfield Street while drain and sewer line replacement is happening on Gorham Street. And the town is still paving roads in and around Belmont Center from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

4. The Youth, Chancel, and Junior Choirs of The First Church in Belmont, Universal Unitarian is presenting Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado." tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12; Email requests are available as are web purchases (search for "Mikado."). Telephone orders can be obtained at 617-484-2149.

5. The Senior Book Discussion Group will meet at 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St, to discuss "The Country of the Pointed Firs" by Sarah Orne Jewett.
