Winter Recess Starts Today, Free Concert at the Beech, Girls' Hoops Here

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, Dec. 20.

• The winter recess for all Belmont public school students begins at the end of classes today. They won't be back 'til Twelve Night on Monday, Jan. 6, or what you will.

• The Beech Street Center is holding a free Holiday Concert with David Polansky at 1:15 p.m. One of the most popular musicians to entertain at the Center, Polansky, will regale us with seasonal and holiday music. David both sings and plays keyboard and trumpet.

• State Sen. Will Brownsberger's Chief of Staff Barbara Miranda will hold office hours from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St. All are welcome to during this time to discuss issues, ask for help in dealing with state agencies, or talk about any other topic of concern.

• Local musician Liz Buchanan will be performing original songs and traditional favorites for youngsters and their parents at the Belmont Public Library's Flett Room beginning at 10:30 a.m. 

• Belmont Girls' Basketball (1-1) welcomes 2-0 Stoneham to the Wenner Field House at 7 p.m.
