Yoga for All Ages at the Beech, Story Times at the Library, Benton, Girls' Hoops

Events occurring in Belmont on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

• For Belmont residents interested in an evening yoga class, join Susan Harris for an all ages evening yoga class being held at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St., from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Tuesdays. This is a non-Council on Aging class held at the Beech. Harris, a registered yoga teacher and associate professor of nutrition at Tufts University, will conduct an Iyengar-inspired class which practices yoga postures slowly and with attention to alignment and safety, adapted to the abilities and needs of individual students. Non-seniors, beginners and experienced are welcome. You don’t need to be flexible. The workout will be done with bare feet; mats and props are provided. Cost is $15 per class. For more information, call Susan at 617-407-0816.

Pre-school Story Time takes place at the Benton Library (at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex) beginning at 10:30 a.m. Today teddy bears are back. There will also be seasonal stories and crafts for children 3 to 5. Siblings may attend with adults. Parents or caregivers must be present. Registration is not required.

Belmont High Girls' Hoopsters will be in action vs. Wakefield at the Wenner Field House at 5 p.m.

• The Belmont Public Library's Children's Room is holding Storytime for 2’s and 3’s.  Due to overwhelming popularity, this storytime is offered both at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Bring your little ones for stories, songs, and more. Both programs will take place in the Flett Room, across from the Children's Room.

• On this day in 1813, Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is first published in the United Kingdom.
