Belmont Car Wash & Detailing Gets a 50th Anniversary Makeover

Belmont Car Wash & Detailing – one of the community’s longest running family-owned businesses, is gearing up for its 50th anniversary this summer with a massive renovation to the interior and exterior of its facility. The idea, according to General Manager Adam Tocci, is to provide an exceptional car wash experience for customers and to add to the beautification of the town center.

“We want to make sure we’re doing our part to make Belmont beautiful – and not just by making sure we have the cleanest cars,” Tocci said. “Drive through any town in America, and you really get a sense of whether it is thriving. This town has really been transformed over the past decade with the addition of an eclectic mix of exciting shops and restaurants. Our community is changing - and for the better. With our new renovations, I think anyone driving past the Belmont Car Wash will know our town is the place to be.”

Once described as “the beating heart of Waverly Square,” Belmont Car Wash & Detailing has been part of the town’s history since 1964. The car wash is widely known for providing exceptional service which includes hand-towel drying on all vehicles and a friendly, welcoming staff.  This “personal touch” will not go away with the renovation, explains Tocci, but new technology and efficiencies for washing and major improvements to the waiting area will further enhance the customer experience.

The renovation to the customer area includes new insulation and viewing ports in the wash tunnel so customers have the same great views with a fraction of the noise. The waiting space itself will soon feature a free Wi-Fi area, a sitting space with a 60” TV and a special children’s section with their own television, toys and books.  Along with the free popcorn and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee traditionally offered to patrons, new amenities include free sodas and water. Perhaps the most exciting addition for children is the interactive giant Super Soaker Squirt Gun in the new children’s area that shoots water and soap at the cars passing in the tunnel. “We wanted to have lots of options for people while they’re waiting – watch the game on TV, do some work on their laptops, or make a day of it with the kids. It’s a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere,” Tocci said.

The wash tunnel itself is also undergoing huge improvements including equipment upgrades that will maximize washing quality while improving water efficiency. “We've installed new rocker blasters that do a fantastic job of cleaning the bottom half of the cars, and new style brushes to clean the front and rear more efficiently,” Tocci said. “Of course, drying will all still be done by hand as it has for 50 years.”

The renovations will be completed this spring with a total resurfacing of the lot – just in time for its 50th anniversary in June. “I’m proud that we've been a part of Belmont for so long, and I’m proud of our place in this community,” Tocci said. “These renovations are as much about improving Belmont as anything.”
