Dan Scharfman Memorial Run Sponsored by Belmont Savings

Belmont Savings Bank will sponsor the first annual Dan Scharfman Memorial Run in partnership with the Foundation of Belmont Education.

The 5K race will begin at Belmont Hight School on Nov. 17. There will also be a companion one-mile run.

The race is named for Dan Scharfman, a lifelong runner and elected member of the Belmont School Committee and Belmont Town Meeting, who passed away in January at the age of 55.

Proceeds from the races will fund the Dan Scharfman Education Innovative Fund for the Foundation for Belmont Education's Innovative Teaching Initiative, which supports professional development for teachers and school technology.
