5 Things: Kids Theater Presents "The Lizard of Oz"

Events occurring in Belmont on Wednesday, July 31

1. The Belmont Public Library welcomes Winchester's KidStock! Creative Theater as it presents "The Lizard of Oz," an original theatrical performance. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Assembly Room. 

2. It's the final day for library patrons to use Belmont High School's Teen Techs those students who are helping with e-readers, accessing the digital catalog, basic Internet help, how to make Facebook work better and more fun stuff. One hour individual one-on-one sessions start from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration is required and is available online or by calling 617-993-2870. 

3. Insituform Technologies will be performing sewer and street drain repair work along Waverley Street, Rutledge Road and Village Hill. And there will be sewer lining work on Leslie Street. Be prepared for the roadway to be narrow in areas.

4. Duplicate Bridge Club meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Beech Street Center at 266 Beech St. Every Wednesday the club holds American Contact Bridge League-sanctioned games. All are welcome to play. Cost is $5. Phone: 339-223-6484 for more information.
5. On this day 40 years ago, Logan International Airport suffered its greatest airliner accident when a Delta DC9 from Manchester, NH crashed against a seawall at the end of the runway while landing in the fog killing 88. One survivor lived until December.
