5 Things: 'Emma' at the Beech, Benton's Story Time, Early Office Hours

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, July 12.

1. Don't forget: During July and August, Friday office hours at all Belmont town departments is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

2. At 10 a.m., Denise Patnod will be leading the Benton Library's Pre-school Story Time, a 45-minute program geared toward children between 3 and 5. It features a variety of stories, as well as music, finger plays and/or a craft. Parents and caregivers must remain with their preschooler during the program. Sign up is not required. 

3. The Senior Book Discussion group will meet at 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center to discuss Jane Austen's classic "Emma."

4. The excavation of sewer service will continue, today at Cottage Street. Keep clear of the roadway. 

5. On this day in 100 BC, Julius Caesar was born in Rome.
