Belmont Center Traffic Mash-Up
Road work will impact afternoon travel plans to Belmont's business center.
Scheduled utility work and repairs at the intersection of two major byways will have noon time and afternoon traffic seeking detours and backups in Belmont Center today, Tuesday, Aug. 20.
NSTAR is laying new pipes along Channing Road creating a detour at Cross Street. The work is preceding the reconstruction of Belmont Center and adjacent roads beginning later this year that will allow for an improvement in traffic flow, the introduction of bike lanes and better road surface. Once the renovation is complete, the town will install a modern parking plan for the Center and the surrounding area.
Diggers and work crews are digging up right at the intersection of Common Street and Concord Road opposite of the MBTA commuter line bridge and next to the Town "Common."
