Belmont Under Winter Weather Advisory; Traveling Hazardous During AM Commute

Snow, sleet and freezing rain will make commuting difficult as advisory will continue until 1 p.m.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Belmont and Northeast Massachusetts and will remain in effect until 1 p.m., Monday Dec. 9, according to National Weather Service in a bulletin released at 3:20 a.m.

Overnight snow will change to sleet and freezing rain from south to north during the morning commute before turning to rain this afternoon.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain will fall during the event with snow accumulation of about one inch along with a trace of ice.

The weather will make for hazardous driving conditions impacting the morning commute. "Motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where 'black ice' can easily develop," the NWS notes.
