Celebrate the Fourth at the Belmont Farmers Market

Stock up on fresh produce, fish, meats and vegetables ... and ice pops!

Get a fresh start to the nation's birthday by heading over to the award-winning Belmont Farmers Market which will be open on Independence Day from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Here is your chance to get fresh lobster and fish, pasta, meats, cheeses, bread, vegetables for a salad and lots of fruit for your backyard barbeque or picnic from the collection of regular vendors. And don't forget ice pops!

This week's occasional vendors include Still River WinerySara Ran Away with the Spoon (baked goods) and Nutting Farm (maple products).

At the Events Tent, Bob Leger – who plays bass and guitar and has toured with many rock and country bands – will be performing at 2 p.m. while Karen Allendoerfer and her son, Eric Wetzel, will be playing fiddle duet and light classical solos at 3:45 p.m.

If you are bringing the small kids, there will be Storytime at the Events Tent for stories about farms and food for preschoolers at 3:15 p.m. with this week's reader Kim Foster.
