Future of Clark House Discussed on July 10

A year-and-a-half after its move, groups want to know what to do with the Clark House.

Its reported death was noted, its last minute rescue was hailed and its move was followed by an entire town.

But for the past year-and-a-half, the historic Thomas Clark House – a rare pre-Revolutionary War house from the 1760s – has been sitting on blocks next to the White Field House on Concord Avenue after traveling a half-a-mile from its original homestead on Common Street after the land was sold late in 2011.

Next week, the group that holds claim to the house and the town's commission behind the Clark House's survival want to know what town residents think should be the next step in the house's future.

The Architectural Heritage Foundation, which holds the house's title, and the Belmont Historic District Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss preservation options for the Clark House on Wednesday, July 10, at 7 p.m. in Conference Room 2 at the Belmont Town Hall.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
