Harvests Coming Into Belmont Farmers Market

A bit of magic returns to the market along with a song, stories and lots of produce.

It's August at the Belmont Farmers Market – located in the municipal parking lot at Cross Street and Channing Road in Belmont Center (just follow the signs) – and this week the best of the harvest is beginning to roll in. 

Look for early apples, as well as beets, bell peppers, blueberries, cauliflower, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, grapes, green beans, herbs, hot peppers, melons, okra, onions, peaches, plums, potatoes, raspberries, shelling beans, summer squash, tomatillos, tomatoes and zucchini. 

The market operates from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Thursday, rain or shine.

This week's occasional vendors are Turtle Creek Winery, Wild Acre Inns, Belmont's own Sfolia Baking Company and Soluna Garden Farm which join the market's regular sellers.

Regular vendors are C&C Lobsters and Fish, Foxboro Cheese, Mamadou's Artisan Bakery, Dick's Market Garden, Fior d'Italia, Stillman's at the Turkey Farm, Goodies Homemade, Carlisle Honey, Hutchins Farm, Kimball Fruit Farm, Samira's Homemade, Flats Mentor Farm, Nicewicz Family Farm, The Farm School, Belmongo Farm and Real Pops.

The Market accepts and doubles SNAP benefits up to $25, so please spread the word so that more can take advantage of fresh food. Also, bring nonperishables to the Farmers Market tent to benefit the Belmont Food Pantry.

Magician Ryan Lally performs at 2 p.m.

A Farmers Market favorite, Ryan Lally is back to awe shoppers with his magic tricks. Don't miss him!

Storytime with Denise Shaver at 3:15 p.m.

Belmont Public Library children's librarian Denise Shaver reads stories to preschoolers about farms and food.

Guitarist Sarah Fard performs at 4 p.m.

Sarah is a jazz guitarist, and vocalist and music educator at Chenery Middle School in Belmont, as well as at other schools and summer camps. She also gives  private music lessons, and in her spare time, Sarah can be found performing in local cafes and restaurants.
