Light and On the Go: Check Out the Library's New Netbooks
Now patrons can surf the net from anywhere in the library with one of the library's five new netbooks.
Netbooks are smaller and lighter than laptops and a heck more mobile then the deck top dinosaurs that serve as the public computers at the Belmont Public Library.
And beginning this week, the library – the owners of five new netbooks – want patrons to take one of the new devices out for a spin.
The library is now circulating the five netbooks for use on the main floor and balcony of the building. The Netbooks can be reserved for two hours and are equipped with the Google Chrome browser and MS Word, Publisher, Excel and Access.

So Belmont Library cardholders can now surf the Internet from a cozy corner of the building rather then in the middle of the main floor where the public computers are located.
To check out a Netbook, patrons must be in high school or older; give the reference staff a valid library card and a photo ID or High School ID; and have library fines below $5.

The addition of the five Netbooks means the Library can now offer patrons Internet access on 18 computers, so no one should need to wait.
Ask at the reference desk about our Netbook guidelines, or read them online.
