• There will be magic in the air at Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church at 421 Common St. at 7 p.m. as the church presents a show on its lawn featuring Belmont’s own Mike Bent and his “Abrakidabra Magic Show” (yes, that's Mike performing at the White House's Easter Egg Hunt in 2011 in the photo on this page) along with singer/banjo player Paul Sedgwick. Bring the kids!

• Teens will have a chance to soften the blow of a new school year just around the corner with a Teen Ice Cream Party from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Young Adult's Room at the Belmont Public Library.

• The Community Path Advisory Committee – those good people looking to construct a bike and pedestrian way through Belmont – will be discussing issues and concerns pertaining to the neighbors which will be abutting the path as well as a Community Preservation grant for pedestrian connections. The fun starts at 7 p.m. in Conference Room 4 of Belmont Town Hall.

• The Belmont Public Library's Children's Summer Reading Program will be holding a genre challenge party from 6 p.m to 7:30 p.m. in the library's Assembly Room.

• On this day in 1911, Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" was stolen by Louvre employee Vincenzo Peruggia, who, after hiding in a broom closet until the museum closed, walking out with the painting hidden under his coat. He hung the masterpiece in his apartment for two years before attempting to sell it to Florence's Uffizi Gallery.
