UPDATE: Support Belmont Public Library by Being Its Friend

Friends of the Belmont Public Library annual membership drive is getting underway.

If you enjoy all the perks of a public library in Belmont, now is the time for you to "friend" the Belmont Public Library.

But this friending doesn't require going on Facebook and selecting a "thumbs up" icon. It's about joining the Friends of the Belmont Public Library during its annual .
membership season that begins this fall.

And if you happen to be a library-supporter who has a dog that needs walking, you are in luck.
"Belmont is a community of life-long learners and readers.  We rely on our donors, to help keep the 'public' in our own Belmont Public Library and support its mission to enrich and inform the community," said Mary Alice Wistman, Friends of the Belmont Public Library president.

Membership donations, as well as revenue from the annual and everyday Book Sale, provide for discount passes to local museums, the young adult and children’s programs, author and music series, the Community Read as well as other important gifts to the library.

"The Friends support the library as both a physical and virtual place of access that gives the user an opportunity for exposure to varied opinions and experiences.  Libraries provide trusted means to gain context, to expand viewpoints and encourage curiosity," said Wistman.
